Broccoli Cheese Toast

Ingredients

  • Whole wheat bread slices: 4
  • Broccoli (finely chopped or grated): 1 cup
  • Cheese (grated, mozzarella or cheddar): ½ cup
  • Garlic (minced): 2 cloves
  • Butter (or olive oil): 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Chili flakes: ½ teaspoon (optional)
  • Oregano or mixed herbs: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt: to taste
  • Low-fat mayonnaise or Greek yogurt: 1 tablespoon (optional)

Preparation

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). If using a pan, heat on low flame.

Sauté garlic in butter for 30 seconds, then add chopped broccoli and cook for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender.

Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and chili flakes. Mix well and turn off the heat.

Spread a thin layer of Greek yogurt on each bread slice.

Top with sautéed broccoli mixture and sprinkle grated cheese generously.

Toast in the oven for 8-10 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden. If using a pan, cover and cook on low flame until the cheese melts.

Serve hot, garnished with extra chili flakes or herbs if desired.

Notes

  1. Use multigrain or sourdough bread for a healthier version.
  2. Replace cheese with paneer crumbles for a high-protein variation.
  3. Add finely chopped bell peppers or corn for extra crunch and sweetness.
  4. Can be made in an air fryer at 180°C for 5-7 minutes.
