Watermelon Basil Cooler

Ingredients

  • Watermelon, deseeded and cubed: 3 cups
  • Fresh basil leaves: 6-8
  • Lemon juice: 2 tbsp
  • Honey or jaggery syrup: 1 tbsp (optional, as per taste)
  • Chilled water or soda: ½ cup
  • Ice cubes: 4-6
  • Basil leaves and watermelon wedges: For garnish

Preparation

Add watermelon cubes, basil leaves, lemon juice, and honey (if using) to a blender.

Blend until smooth.

If you prefer a clear drink, strain the mixture using a fine mesh sieve.

Fill two glasses with ice cubes.

Pour the blended watermelon-basil mixture into the glasses until they are ¾ full.

Top it with chilled water or soda.

Garnish with fresh basil leaves and a small watermelon wedge on the rim of the glass.

Serve immediately.

Notes

  1. Watermelon keeps you hydrated and is rich in antioxidants, while basil adds a refreshing flavor and promotes digestion.
  2. You can add a pinch of black salt or a dash of ginger juice for a slight twist.
